Classic blue and white

If you follow other East Coast bloggers, you would probably know about the crazy weather we have been having. Cold, warm, rain, snow, just everything! I know, I take all my pictures in my room, but as soon as I get home, I just want to throw everything off and change into my pajamas.

Review: the J.Crew Icon Trench

Ever since I was little, I have admired the look of the trench coat, whether it be on a woman or a man. Nothing really says business(wo)man than a trench and maybe a pant suit, the latter which I think makes me look like a little girl in her mother's clothes. Though I would love to own a Burberry trench coat in the future, I wanted to find an alternative that would be a little more economical for the time being. Enter the J.Crew Icon trench.

Fedora comes out to play

I bought this fedora at H&M a couple months back but haven't worn it since. I really like the look of it on, though it doesn't fit very well, as the inner rim is just a bit smaller than the circumference of where it should sit on my head. If was just the slightest bit windy, the hat goes bye bye! I need to think of an inventive way to pin the hat down somehow...is there such thing as hair glue?

Luncheon wears

Obviously I was having too much fun
blazer - zara m, sweater - zara s
skirt - ann taylor 00p, tights - loft, shoes - shoemint 5.5

(I actually wore my black loft wedges instead of my booties to the luncheon today, but I left them at work. The booties are my commuter shoes)

When I first started to going to work luncheons, I had no idea what to wear. My first time, I wore a black suit just to be safe, which was fine but also quite boring. I hoped to take fashion cues from other women in my industry, but their tastes were a bit mature for me. As I go to more of these functions, I am slowly learning how to style an outfit that is age appropriate, fashionable, but yet professional.

Red and green after Christmas?

I have always been tentative to wear green and red together, especially if Christmas has passed. I think today's outfit is appropriate for both the holidays and daily life because the green is more on the olive side. I am extremely glad that winter in NYC has taken a hiatus, as exploring the city can be so miserable when its freezing cold.

Review: J. Crew snowcap puffer, tipped hacking jacket, schoolboy blazer in wool flannel

These past few months, a majority of my credit card charges were due to online purchases from J. Crew. I have been on the quest to find my perfect winter coat (and I'm pretty sure I'll have a winner by Monday when I get a package), which has resulted in a bunch of returns due to sizing issues. In addition, the 30%/40% online and in store sales have proven dangerous for me, as I check the website each morning before work and often just make the impulse buy before sizes are gone. Though these items are on sale now and will be gone soon, I figured a review could be handy as similar styles may appear next year. At the very least it would be good for future reference, right?

Snowcap Quilted Jacket in Dark Olive, xxs, xs

The difference between the xs and xxs. The xs is wider by just a little, probably 1/2 an inch or less total. The sleeves of the xs also seem a tad longer and wider, but by a negligible amount.
